The Bruins Chorale

Music Fact Rap

What is music?  Organized sound,

where melody and harmony and rhythm abound.

First there’s a clef, usually treble or bass.

It tells you which notes are on the lines or in the space.

The time signature will show you a beat,

while the staff keeps everything nice and neat.

The key signature may have sharps or flats.

Major or minor?  It will tell you that.

Don’t forget to check the tempo;

like Largo, Andante, Allegro or Presto.

Then, see what the composer wrote:

whole, half, quarter or eighth note.

Musical notes go from A up to G,

(a bit confusing I must agree)

We organize notes into a scale,

with whole steps and half steps that tell the tale.

Dynamics indicate what volume you should play.

Soft is piano, loud is forte.

Conductors are necessary I have found,

for they help to organize all the sound.

Reading music measure by measure is certain to give

you lots of pleasure.
