Choir Room Renovation
In 1976, Trewhitt Junior High opened as an innovative new school to serve the community on the southeast side of Bradley County. Throughout the last thirty-three years, the name of the school, its students and faculty have greatly changed. The buildings and classrooms have also seen many improvements. One room that has seen little change through the years is the choir room. Having served many talented singers, the choir room has become worn, especially the floor. Several years ago, the old carpet needed to be removed leaving the room a very unattractive learning environment for students and visitors.
Last year, we had several prestigious choir directors and their groups come visit and work with our students including Mr. Wendel Werner and the University of Tennessee Singers. We hope to continue and enhance this opportunity. We have been dreaming of an outstanding rehearsal hall for these experiences and for our over 300+ choir students to enjoy every day!
The faculty and administration decided now is the time. Construction on the new floor began this summer, and we are so excited to see the progress. This project does cost a large sum of money, and we need to raise several thousand dollars by December 2009 to help cover the expense. To reach our goal, we are providing several opportunities for the community, students, their families, and businesses to contribute. Below is a list of information explaining ways you can support our new renovation.
Donations We would like to give individuals, families or businesses an opportunity to give a donation and in return receive recognition in various ways. For example, those who donate $1 - $99 will have their name(s) listed in our nicely designed fall and holiday concert programs. Those who donate $100 - $249 will have their name listed in the programs and on a plaque to hang in the newly renovated choir room. Those who donate $250 - $499 will receive the items listed above in addition to up to 6 reserved seats at all Lake Forest choir concerts this year and recognition in a newspaper advertisement. Those who donate $500 or more will receive all of the above and an individual plaque to hang in the newly renovated choir room for students to appreciate for years to come. We ask that you be thinking of family, friends or businesses who would like to be apart of this exciting opportunity. We will send home a formal letter for you to distribute in a few weeks.
Fall Auction On October 6, the advanced choirs (Singers, Revolution and 6th Grade Advanced) will perform in a fall concert. Before the concert, we will have a silent auction in the school cafeteria. We need your support by providing items to sale at the auction. Please be thinking of items you can contribute to this event. If you already know how you can contribute, please email Ms. Wagner.
Holiday Fundraiser When students return from fall break, the choir department will kick off a holiday fundraiser. This catalog will include gifts and holiday items to be delivered in December before the winter break. Last year we raised a significant amount that bought new music for all choirs, a lot of classroom supplies, and helped cover travel expenses for advanced ensembles. This year, we need all students in the choir program to help us meet our goal! |
